Getting started

What programs do you offer?+
We run holiday camps during school holiday periods and weekly training during the school year. Programs cater to juniors aged 8 to 18 across beginner, intermediate, and advanced skill levels.
How do I book?+
Book online at obsidianvolleyball.com/booking. Choose your program and days, pay securely, and you'll get a confirmation email with all the details.
Can my child try a class first?+
Yes. You're welcome to book a single class for $40 and give it a try before committing, no strings attached. If your child loves it, enrol for the rest of the term and save 10% on every class. Book from the booking page.

Pricing

How much do holiday camps cost?+
Full days are $70 each. Book 5 or more days and every day drops to $60, so any five days are $300. Every player trains in the Obsidian jersey; add it for $36 at checkout if your child doesn't have one yet. Pick your days on the booking page and the total updates as you go.
How much is weekly training?+
A single class is $40. Enrol for the remaining weeks of the term and you save 10%, paying $36 per class upfront. Most families enrol for the term; single classes are perfect for trying us out or for genuinely week-to-week schedules.
What if my child misses a week?+
Term enrolments aren't refunded or credited for individual missed weeks. If you know ahead of time that your child will miss several classes, contact us before enrolling and we'll try to help. Illness or injury with a medical certificate is always refunded pro rata. If your schedule genuinely changes week to week, single classes at $40 are built for exactly that.

Players & skill levels

What age groups do you cater for?+
We run programs for juniors aged 8 to 18. Players are grouped by skill level rather than age alone, so everyone trains at the right intensity.
My child has never played volleyball. Is that OK?+
Absolutely. Our beginner sessions are designed for kids with zero experience, and our coaches make it fun and welcoming from day one. During camp, coaches also move players up or down a level so everyone stays challenged and engaged.
How do you group players?+
By skill level, not just age. We assess players and place them in the right group, so beginners aren't overwhelmed and advanced players are properly challenged.

Pathway & competition

Is there a pathway to competitive volleyball?+
Yes. Players are grouped by ability so stronger players are always pushed, and our advanced sessions build toward representative and club volleyball. From 2027 we're entering junior teams into the Sydney Volleyball League, giving our players a clear competitive pathway.
Can my child play in a competitive team?+
From 2027 we're fielding junior teams in the Sydney Volleyball League. If your child is keen to compete, let our coaches know and we'll guide the next steps as teams take shape.

Venues & logistics

Where do you run programs?+
Weekly training runs at Obsidian Volleyball Academy West Ryde on Friday nights, 5 to 9 PM, at Obsidian Volleyball Academy Kellyville at Kellyville High School on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons, and at Sydney Olympic Park on Tuesday afternoons. Holiday camps run at multiple venues across Sydney each school holidays. Current venues and dates are on the holiday camp page. See current camp venues and dates
Are the venues indoor?+
Yes. Every venue we run from has indoor courts, so sessions run rain or shine.
Is there parking available?+
Parking is available at or near all venues. Most have free on-site parking; some, like Sydney Olympic Park, have paid parking. Specific parking instructions are sent in your booking confirmation.
What should my child bring?+
Suitable indoor court shoes, a water bottle (refill stations are on site), and their Obsidian Volleyball training jersey. We provide all volleyball gear.
What time do sessions start and end?+
West Ryde junior classes run Friday nights, 5:00 to 7:00 PM and 7:00 to 9:00 PM. Kellyville junior classes run Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons, 4:00 to 5:30 PM. Sydney Olympic Park junior classes run Tuesdays, 4:30 to 6:00 PM. Holiday camp days are four hours; times vary by venue and are shown when booking. Adult session times are listed on the adult sessions page.

Payments & refunds

What payment methods do you accept?+
We accept credit and debit cards through our secure Stripe payment system. Payment is processed at the time of booking.
What is your refund and reschedule policy?+
In short: cancel a camp 7 or more days before it starts for a full refund; 3 to 6 days before we'll move you to another available camp day free instead; inside 3 days there's no refund (unless we can fill your spot from the waitlist). Term programs are fully refundable before the term starts; once it's underway, individual missed weeks aren't refunded or credited. Illness or injury with a doctor's certificate is always refunded pro rata, even same day. Adult social sessions are non-refundable. The full policy, in plain English, is on our Cancellation and Refund Policy page at obsidianvolleyball.com/refund-policy. Read the full cancellation and refund policy

Coaches & safety

Are your coaches qualified?+
All Obsidian coaches are accredited and hold current Working With Children Checks. They bring competitive playing experience alongside their coaching credentials.
What is the coach-to-player ratio?+
We keep group sizes small so every player gets meaningful coaching attention. Specific ratios vary by program level.
